I wish vacation never had to come to an end, but don’t we all? Mitch and I drove to California over Memorial Day weekend and stayed in the gorgeous four-star Omni San Diego Hotel, located in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. Our room was on the 20th floor and we had a beautiful view of the San Diego Bay and Coronado Island. If you’re a Padres fan, it doesn’t get any better than this hotel, which is conncted to PETCO park by a pedestrian sky-walk!

It's Andrew Zimmern!
We we’re looking for a place to eat and ran into Andrew Zimmern, who was filming an episode of Bizarre Foods! When we were in college we would come home to visit and spend hours watching the show with Mitchell’s mom. I think he’s the coolest ever. We forgot to ask him where to eat!
If you stay at the Omni San Diego Hotel, you absolutely must try the clam chowder and fish sandwich from the Tin Fish. It’s right next door–you’ll smell is as soon as you walk outside. We also liked the Gaslamp Strip Club, which is not actually a strip club! It’s a steak restaurant and they bring your steak raw and you season and cook it yourself…fun right?!
