Gardening! I started this hobby when I was raising a basil and oregano plant in a window pot in college. When I came home for the summer I brought my plants home and ended up leaving them in my mother’s care, which got her started in gardening. Now we both of our own gardens.
When my mom was younger and active we gardened together, but now the hobby we share is watching movies together. We have certain favorites, like Meet Me in St. Louis and The Wizard of Oz for instance.
My mom taught me to love sewing and quilting. We sew together when we can and when we are apart we share sewing projects over the phone. Sometimes when I am having a hard time figuring out how to do something or just can’t, I will send it to her and she will fix, or do the hard part for me and send it back!
My mother is (was) a great cook and baker and taught me a lot. We used to get together and do some baking and canning in the Fall etc. Unfortunately, her diabetes got out of hand and led to serious dementia among other things. She is no longer able to remember recipes or even how to cook. It just breaks my heart! She can still enjoy a great cup of coffee though. Thanks so much for the chance to win!
